Dr. Håkan Charles-Harris is a well-known, recognized leader in advancements in general, vascular and endovascular surgery in South Florida.
Dr. Charles-Harris is a 1981 Calabar graduate and received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies and his surgical training from Mount Sinai in New York City. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Vascular Medicine, Endovascular, in addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
While serving as assistant professor in surgery at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Dr. Charles-Harris was appointed director of the Endovascular Institute for FIU at Jackson North Medical Center. He has been involved in research at the college and teaches medical students. Plans are also underway to increase experience and teaching for medical students at the Endovascular Institute.
Dr. Charles-Harris has trained numerous healthcare providers from both local and international schools. He also enjoys being a career counselor in the medical and nursing fields to high-school students.
He is certified as a Registered Physician for Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Achievement of this certification acknowledges the highest level of competence in this medical-image modality of ultrasound testing. Dr. Charles-Harris is currently Medical Director at Comprehensive Breast Institute, Miami, Florida.
