ICAJ honours Calabar Lion Everton McDonald
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) has presented the 2013 ICAJ Distinguished Member Award to Everton L. McDonald. The presentation was made at the annual awards banquet at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on December 5, 2013
The prestigious award has been established by ICAJ to recognise its members who have contributed, through their achievements, to the prestige and status of the institute and have made significant contributions to the development of the accountancy profession.
"I accept this honour with pride, humility and elation, particularly as it represents a recognition by my peers, which many view as the ultimate recognition. Let me thank the president and council of the institute and my nominator for considering me worthy of this distinction," said McDonald.
Dennis Chung, ICAJ president said, "I am privileged to be president at the time we are honouring Everton McDonald, who continues to be a standard-bearer of the profession."
A past president of ICAJ, McDonald currently serves as a member of the disciplinary committee. He has also served as chairman of the Institute's bylaws committee and as a member of its accounting standards committee. McDonald is a former managing partner and territory senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and is the founding chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers Caribbean and Bermuda.
Calabar High Alumnus
He has also served as a member of the Public Accountancy Board and on a number of boards in both the public and private sectors. An alumnus of Calabar High School, he is listed among the top 100 graduates in the history of the institution. McDonald is a fellow of the ICAJ, as well as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom.
